The Clio Renault Sport 2.0 16V Generation 2004 wears the new Renault Sport badge, introduced on Clio V6. With a new chassis and an engine with power increased to 182 bhp, Clio Renault Sport has better performance and stronger appeal. For the most demanding motor sport enthusiasts, a sports chassis option makes its appearance, with the suspension set up to favor efficiency and feedback.

A Design to Match Performance

The Clio Renault Sport Generation 2004 more than ever proclaims its sports saloon character, with twin chromed exhaust pipes and 16-inch alloy wheels. New colors also appear: a non-metallic Dynamo Blue, and two “special effect” shades, Artic Blue and Noir Dore. Titane Grey continues in the range. For customers seeking greater exclusivity, the Renault Sport personalization programme offers two body colors: Sirius Yellow or Orion Green.

Inside, the safety belts have grey-colored facings to match the underlayer of the perforated alcantara upholstery. The sporting and technical signature of Clio Renault Sport is seen in the leather steering wheel, the instruments with their chromed bezels, the dashboard trim mouldings and door bins with their “soft aluminum” paint finish. The door sill kickplates with their Renault Sport badges, and the aluminum pedals complete this sporting finish.

182 bhp for More Decisive Performance

The more sporting 2.0 16V engine proclaims its sporting character through its clean and eager note when accelerating hard. With 182 bhp at 6,500 rpm, the performance of the Clio Renault Sport 2.0 16V is higher with acceleration from 0 to 62 mph taking only 7.1 sec. The maximum torque of 148 lb-ft is now achieved at 5,250 rpm (150 rpm earlier than before) and 80% of this is available from 2,000 rpm to provide real pleasure of driving across the speed range, and vigorous response.

A new “3Y” exhaust manifold (replacing the former “4-into-1”) improves gas outflow and allows better cylinder filling to the benefit of power output. The greater duct length of this exhaust manifold results in higher torque at all speeds.

Option: Sports Chassis

Dedicated to the driving process and to efficiency, the Clio Renault Sport 2.0 16V with sports chassis provides a level of grip sufficient to satisfy the most demanding motor sport enthusiasts. With stiffened suspension and lowered ride height, control of body movement is optimal. This development combines existing comfort with a radically sporting character. The front wheel hub carriers, specific to the sports chassis, are equipped with larger diameter bearings. The rigorous maintenance of the wheel in its correct plane, when subjected to cornering forces as well as during acceleration and braking, and the traction provided by this strengthened suspension, were the object of special attention.

The steering arm attachment points on the wheel hub carriers have been positioned lower. This adjustment to the suspension favors reactiveness and quicker steering response. Spring rates increased by 20% with matching damper settings for this version provide even more incisive behaviour.

The rear spring rates have been stiffened by 15% and the damper settings increased by 10%.

Outside, the Clio Renault Sport 2.0 16V sports chassis is distinguished by the fitting of charcoal-colored wheels. And for all versions of the Clio Renault Sport 2.0 16V, Renault Sport offers an aerodynamic “blade” and a competition rear spoiler, to improve airflow and to personalize the car in a way which reflects its performance.
