Opel is extending the engine range for the Tigra TwinTop with a compact four-cylinder, common-rail turbo-diesel unit. In addition to the two ECOTEC gasoline engines with 1.4 and 1.8-liter displacements (66 kW/90 hp and 92 kW/125 hp), customers now also have the choice of a particularly fuel-efficient 51 kW/70 hp 1.3-liter diesel. The Tigra TwinTop 1.3 CDTI, featuring four-valve technology and state-of-the-art multiple fuel-injection, consumes only 4.6 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers. Like all Tigra TwinTop variants, the new diesel cabrio-coupé with electro-hydraulic retractable steel roof complies with the Euro 4 emissions standard.

The ‘Cabrio of the Year 2004’ has not only already won a whole series of comparison tests in the automotive press, it’s also a big hit with our customers. We currently have over 15,000 orders Europe-wide. The additional option of the highly efficient 1.3 CDTI common-rail turbo-diesel makes the Tigra line even more attractive.”

Another new feature of the Tigra TwinTop: for more driving dynamics and even better handling, the 125 hp 1.8-liter version now comes with a sport chassis as standard. In comparison to the already agile DSA (Dynamic Safety) chassis with ESP, the sport chassis delivers even sharper handling, road-holding and responsive steering. The new sport chassis boasts reinforced stabilizers at the front, which further reduce roll, and the rear axle now has a modified torsion profile. The Tigra TwinTop versions with 1.4 TWINPORT and 1.3 CDTI ECOTEC engines are equipped with a new rear axle for enhanced driving comfort.
